Brothers, Sisters, Friends:
A special barracks has been set
aside at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and it has been given a
VERY special name: THE WOUNDED WARRIORS
There are currently between 30-32
pretty banged up marines being quartered and cared for at this
barracks. On the weekend Semper Fi Lodge and a local Chapter of
the National Sojourners were on hand to bring comfort to these
badly injured Iraq veterans. There are no masons -- there are
however Brothers In Arms and possibly there may be some
petitions forthcoming.
In conjunction with Semper Fi
Lodge I am striking a coin for these marines -- something they
can hold in their hands which might bring them comfort during
the dark and painful hours.
One side of the coin will have
the emblem of the USMC.
The face of the coin will have
the Stars & Stripes. And in a Blue outer edge I will place at
the top: Wounded Warrior.
Around the bottom of that outer
ring will be the words:
My Spirit Is Strong
Brethren of Semper Fi Lodge will
place a coin in the hands of a Wounded Marine.
I will pay for this coin and its
shipment. The initial production run will be 50 coins. I regret
to inform myself that this barracks will likely have a lot more
candidates for this small token.
I'm telling you about the project
for an obvious reason: I'd like financial support if you can
personally swing a buck or two, or maybe even a bit more.

Dear Carl and Greetings
to all on your lists: Carl, I've had a little stroke -- certainly not as bad as the first ones way back in 1994 -- but none the less there has been a shock to my system which has slowed me down dramatically. No loss of speech of motor functions this time around but I am very, very tied. I want folks to know I am a little bit off base as this is affecting my ability to send out orders. YES, I am shipping goods, but I am a wee bit on the slow side. Also--I need the help of list members. My concentration is off base right now. Reminders to get something done for a Brother or Sister would certainly not be "pestering". Actually they would be greatly appreciated as a means of helping me to stay focused. If anyone is wondering, my cognitive is fine .... I am no more brain dead than I was last month. I've got my sense of humour, BUT...I am feeling a lot of pent up anger right now....though all I should be is grateful. Be well and peaceful. Rtj/WM rtj@ns.sympatico.ca |
